May 12, 2014 to May 13, 2014
Istanbul (Turkey)
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and EU

In cooperation with the European Training Foundation and organised under the umbrella of CAEP, this two-day workshop will present the main findings of, and discuss recommendations for, a high-level policy dialogue in the following key areas:
In more detail, the topics to be covered range from career orientation for prospective teachers, teachers’ social skills and professional development, to issues of stakeholders’ involvement in VET and HE, development, maintenance and management of qualifications to the development of curricula for qualifications, and training of teachers to strengthen the capacity of both the VET and HE sectors to comply with labour market needs.
In the presentations and workshops, best-practice examples from the EU and Central Asia will be discussed and disseminated.
The event will also consider the results of the ETF Conference on Quality Assurance in VET in Central Asia, held in November 2013 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The two study reports to be presented will serve as background papers for the discussion of the current developments and approaches being followed in Central Asia. The meeting will also discuss what each country identifies as its main recent achievements, and any challenges that are emerging – as a result of either existing or new developments. Within the scope of these two objectives, the workshop sessions should produce clear messages for the region in terms of progress and priorities, and contribute to facilitating a region-wide dialogue on VET and HE issues.
The discussions amongst policy makers and experts will enable each country to identify where it believes EU CAEP support will be most valuable in the next few years, and to make recommendations for the strengthening of education systems, be it in VET or HE.
The results of the workshop will be documented and reported to ETF, Tempus, the EU Commission and the CAEP partner countries.
