Following the 2nd Meeting of Ministers for Education of the Central Asia countries and the European Union in June 2017, which reaffirmed the commitment of Central Asia Ministers for Education to ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning, ministers welcomed the exchange on how to avoid gender inequality in education and how education can contribute in addressing gender inequalities. CAEP will therefore conduct a web-based seminar (“webinar”) on gender equality in HE and VET in both the EU and Central Asia countries, following the same scheme as the webinar held on National Qualifications Frameworks and Sectoral Councils on 4 July, 2018:

• The webinar will last between 2 and 2.5 hours and will consist of maximum 5 short presentations on questions raised by the relevant stakeholders in the Central Asia countries, followed by well-structured discussions to go into more detail.
• The main objective of this webinar is to discuss thematic issues, problems and possible solutions to strengthen gender equality in our education systems.
• The discussion will be attended by experienced experts from the European Union, EU Member States and UNESCO. The CAEP Technical Assistance Team will share all relevant technical information with participants to offer the best possible use of this webinar.

Prior to the webinar a review report ‘Gender Equality in Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training in Central Asia – Trends and Challenges’ will be produced by the CAEP Team and distributed to participants.
